The King's Head Pub, 2003-07-06

Light crowd again, although there were, fortunately, some non-musicians there trying to drink and eat. About half of the musicians there were people I knew. Among the others was a cellist, which was pretty unusual. His name was Tim, which is not so unusual. The bartender ran the sound system, and did it well, but there was no one really hosting. I think I forgot to actually say who I was--something I can always rely on a host to cover for.

The King's Head plays up its British lineage with a great deal of decor: English beer ads and coats of arms are to this place what Texas kitsch and chili cook-off ads are to Chili's. The sign on the men's washroom door says "Knights", so when I had to pay it a visit, I told people I was going "to see a man about a steed." Well, I thought it was funny. Kind of.

Tonight I had my first little mind-shift of unemployment: On the drive home I thought, "Hm, it's getting late, I'd better go right to bed so I can get up for work in the morning." For some reason nothing jarred me last week--it just felt like a really long weekend. The end of the actual weekend is what's forcing me to confront the reality of the situation.

Anyway, I'd better go to bed so I can get up for work in the morning.
