Hey, last night someone finally said I reminded them of Red House Painters! Which was weird, because it was in reference to a song I wrote under the spell of Tim Easton, a year or so after I gave up trying to sound like Mark Kozelek. But still welcome. It's interesting how influences play out.

Also: I still like Santa Cruz.

Retrospective trip posts are still on the way.

I like Red House Painters. This is good news.

I've been busy at Ubicomp the last few days, at which I've been hanging
with Loren and Brian Amento and a couple other folks we sort of knew at
the Big Phone Co. of Evil. They say hi. Maureen is also here, so I
got some news of Placewhatisit too. It's been really good for me to
see folks again, but just as nostaligic as driving through Morristown
was for you. Whatever happened to my old career. There's some
guy at the conf who look like Doug before he cut his hair, but has
(I think) a Hungarian accent, so it's a bit weird.

More later on it when the conf is over and I'm not totally drunk. Glad
you made it home.

Tangential: When PlaceWare was going to be absorbed, someone set up a mailing list for ex-employees so we could all stay in touch and trade job leads, I guess; my favorite proposed name for it was PlaceWere.
