dream report
Nov. 28th, 2003 10:33 amIt was an all-theater night in my dreams last night.
In the first dream, I was the new kid in town. While pursuing an instant crush and trying to scope out my rival for her affections, I was inexplicably drafted into playing the male lead in a period comedy (think Moliere) about... a new kid in town, the woman he immediately falls in love with, and his rival for her affections. Of course, we were all cast in our respective roles, plus the evil rich guy who ran the town and his two evil greasy sons were cast as the evil rich guy and his two evil sons. Just before I woke up, I had the breakthrough recollection from high school theater that I'd find it easier to memorize my lines if I used a highlighter to mark them in the script.
In the second dream, I was reading a New York Times article (yes, I dream about reading the newspaper) about a new play, backed financially by Brad Pitt, in which Michelle Williams, with advice from Madonna, played Marilyn Monroe as a closet intellectual. (This last part was probably inspired by the bizaare satirical article in the Sunday Styles section about Paris Hilton caught on tape "developing mathematical models for a low-cost irrigation system to be used in the developing world.")
Actually I think there was another dream, in which I went back to grad school... on a space station!... but that was boring.
