I've known some cops, and I've had some encounters like yours over the years. I have to admit that I have a lot more respect for authority now (at 42) than I did when I was 16, but curiously, I have much less respect for the kind of person who typically becomes a police officer. Something bothers me about a person who can view law enforcement as "just a job;" on the other hand, something scares me deeply about anyone who would see it as more than that.
