Scott said my cover of "Southdown" has "a weird retro feel, like music for a 60's low budget sci-fi movie," which I'm delighted by. I see it as a theme song played over the opening credits. Lots of landscapes. He also pegged the "robot keyboards" in the bridge as a product of my suppressed longing to be The Postal Service, so then I had to go listen to Give Up.

Jul. 29th, 2003 12:57 pmBob Hope's death doesn't sadden me the way Katharine Hepburn's did; his best work is more distant than hers was, and his off-screen life doesn't inspire me the way hers does. But I do miss his best work. I'm not gonna write an obituary, but this post has a couple of my favorite lines from his movies.
I think he'd appreciate the fact that his New York Times obituary was written by a dead man.
