Flickr Watchr
Jan. 12th, 2005 05:22 pmAfter playing around with Flickr for a while,
xythian and I both independently came up with the idea of a program that would periodically check for new photos and pop them up in a corner of the screen, the way instant messaging programs tell you when somebody shows up or goes away. So we both independently started writing them. Ken posted his a few days ago, and now here's mine. I'm calling it "Watchr". Get it?
My original plan was to use it for photos from my "contacts", but it turns out we don't post that often, so then I discovered I could use it as a source of new photos of New York City. Or nature. And today I'm just watching the Apple feed, which is getting regular updates from the Macworld expo.
Anyway, it's been fun. If you have a semi-recent Java installation, or are willing to get one, you can try it out.
By the way, I have been posting more photos over on Flickr than I've copied over here, so if you're fascinated by pictures of suburbia, well.
