jfbIf you're an accordion appreciator, you really have to see Accordion Tribe, a documentary that follows the 2001 European tour of five world-class accordion composer/performers. They're mostly from a contemporary classical background, although one plays jazz; folk music inevitably lurks behind all of it, and some of them are quite thoughtful on the relationships between different kinds of music. Oh, and one of them plays "Walking on the Moon".
It's showing again at Cinequest on Friday and Saturday at 1:00 PM. If you're not in San Jose, I don't know where else it'll screen, although apparently it got released in some German-speaking countries last year.
If you're a music fan but you don't think you like accordions, you might want to check this one out anyway. You never know.
