keeping it real
Recorded "Sailor" (by Hem) tonight. Their recording is beautiful--Sally Ellyson's gorgeous voice over a lush background of strings, with glockenspiel and a French horn solo. I don't have a French horn, so I just play guitar and try to sing.
I departed from my usual method of recording separate tracks at separate times and mixing them: I just sat down in front of two microphones and sang and played. It felt good, until I screwed up halfway through the song. After a few more attempts I got one take that was pretty good.
So now I have six takes that felt good. Tomorrow I get to listen to them and find out if any of them sound good.
