Stone Reader was wonderful. The story is, a man reads a 1972 novel that got great reviews but didn't sell well, and the author dropped from sight. Never published another word, nobody knows what happened to him. The man then becomes obsessed with tracking down the novelist to find out what happened.

That's the story, and wrapped around it are two hours about the love of reading, writing, and the passage of time. It's gorgeous. See it if you can.

Yep I agree. But oddly, even though in the movie, too, they talk about 'wonderful reviews' I think they also mention that it got one review, in the Times, I think. But the level of self-conscious obsession was the most interesting part to me.
