Listening to Gemma Hayes on 101 heading north away from San Francisco on my way to dinner, it occurred to me that I should start learning cover songs again. I forcibly broke the habit this spring, trying to channel my new-material energies into writing more songs of my own. But, you know what? I like playing other people's songs. I like other people's songs. And I like introducing audiences to songwriters they mostly haven't heard of.
Listening to Gemma Hayes on 101 heading south toward San Francisco on my way home, it occurred to me that all my songs suck. The fact itself pretty much occupied my mind for the rest of the drive, but it did eventually occur to me that this was another good reason to learn more covers.
Anyway, it was nice to read some positive LiveJournal comments when I got home.
