I'm a little late getting to this, but I was sad to hear that John Gregory Dunne passed away just before New Year's Eve. I haven't read many of his books or seen many of the movies he scripted, but I have read The Studio and Monster, and they're two of my favorite books about how Hollywood works.

JGD and Joan Didion were an interesting couple and an inspiration to me in a lot of ways.
