bad news

Via [livejournal.com profile] rutemple: "The largest ice shelf in the Arctic has fractured, releasing all the water from the freshwater lake it dammed."

More importantly, via girlhacker: changes afoot at the NYT Book Review: "Emphasize nonfiction books, demote literary fiction, promote (judiciously) commercial novels." But literary fiction is all I read it for! Poor me.

What on earth is a commercial novel? Stuff that's been made into movies? GRR!
