Slate had kind of a sad piece yesterday on Colin Powell.

At my most generous, I consider Powell sticking around to possibly be as a moderating force against the evil tsunami that is the Bush administration.

But then I remember his presentation to the UN, and I stop and think -- OK, maybe he just sold his soul.

And then I remember Mother Night and I wonder if there's a difference. I should re-read that.

Yeah. I don't keep many books, but I noticed recently I still have that one, so I must've liked it.

It's one of my very favorite Vonnegut books -- somewhere in the top two or three.
