I didn't follow much of the convention coverage this week. Every once in a while I'd turn on NPR and hear them talking about how the Democrats had to be "strong on national security" and present a "coherent foreign policy" but I don't know what happened next because I was shouting "COMPARED TO WHAT?" at my dashboard.
Fortunately I have my weekly paper to tell me stuff. Here are some of the DNC pieces in the New York Times this week:
The newspaper says TV coverage wasn't very good. For an alternative, the style section offers a piece on bloggers at the convention, unfortunately full of misunderstandings.
Barack Obama: Black? This piece explains that Obama is a unique individual with his own history, as if other humans aren't. Also, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., expands on Obama's line about "the slander that says a black youth with a book is acting white."
Christopher Buckley has what looks like a humor piece. And Damien Cave spends a whole column on the adjective "organic," applied during the convention to Teresa Heinz Kerry.
More stuff that happened, for those of us who missed it. And non-convention news, for those who missed everything else.
It looks like I haven't posted anything but Times links for a couple of weeks. I'll try to get a personal update in soon.
