altamont pass

For months I've been telling people about upcoming shows by the "duo" of me and Russell Barber. Tim Cupps almost always plays with us, so it's really a trio most of the time, but sometimes it's really a duo, so, well, what do you say? Plus, I'd tell people "yeah, I'm in a band" and they'd say, "oh, what's it called?" and I'd stammer, "uh, we don't really have a, we're just, me and the other guy." Then they'd say "ah..." and move on.

Anyway, now we have a name, Altamont Pass, and a web site, altamontpass.net. Awesome! There's not much there yet (audio is coming soon), but there are photos of Russell smiling and me possibly suffering a migraine. And stuff about our October shows, including the one at which Colin Carthen has graciously agreed to open for us. Something to look forward to.

Altamont Pass is also the name of a place Russell and I like, which looks something like this or like this or like this.

Weird. I mean, cool. Small world. Does he like it? Can he give me free soup?

he likes it a lot, although he actually hasn't worked there in a year and won't start again until around the 15th.

it's sort of weird set up, the stage is really high and the whole building is narrow and crazy long, but the sound is good.

I kind of like the long narrow rooms. Much better than the wide flat ones. Good sound is the best though.
