I'm with the press corps at a photo op. Muammar Kaddafi and the president are meeting for the first time, to demonstrate that former enemies can work together. Kaddafi gives a short speech which ends abruptly when he pulls out a handgun and shoots the president once through the heart. I am overwhelmed by feelings of hopelessness and futility. I wake up.

"The Comcast cable television company rejected ads that an antiwar group wanted to air during President Bush's State of the Union speech, saying they included unsubstantiated claims." So you can see why they wouldn't want to air them during the President's speech on Iraq.

Eric Alterman offers this bit of copyright violation (scroll down to the subhead "DANGER FROM BELOW"), from New Scientist vol. 176, issue 2373. You know how the atmosphere is warming? And how the oceans are warming? And how the ice in the oceans is melting? Apparently the deep ocean ice is full of trapped methane. And also, we now learn, full of holes. And the holes mean that the ice is likely to melt faster than anticipated. And release the methane into the atmosphere. And guess what? Once released into the atmosphere, all that methane will contribute to global warming. A snowball effect, only, not cold.

So yeah, Vienna Teng is pretty great. She needs to start playing bigger venues. Red Rock was standing room only, and precious little of that.

And The Animators are also pretty great, although their web site is down.

Also, I suck at networking.

Aaand, I came home, switched on a few lights, and when I flipped the third switch, a bulb burned out, a circuit breaker tripped, the computer reset, and the UPS that was supposed to be protecting the computer started pointlessly beeping at me. Now I'm all jumpy.
