Aug. 28th, 2004 09:28 amTook a break last night from pre-trip preparations to go out for a night of music--a free show in the park by Philip Rodriguez and Colin Carthen, and then up to Palo Alto for the open mike. Saw some people I haven't seen for a while and lots of people I won't see for a while. I played a solo set, because I'm going to be playing solo shows next month and I'd better remember how to do it. It went okay.
I got there in the middle of a fantastic set by Ian Jones, who stopped by Jungle on his way up from LA to play some shows around Seattle. Great melodies, great voice. Also, it turns out he's playing tonight at Conor Byrne's, the same venue Scott and I will be playing at late next month. He had nice things to say about the place, so that's good.
Ian has a bunch of CDs and a brand new web site, featuring MP3s of everything he's ever recorded. Right on.
