wifi, taxi

I'm still entertained by the wide availability of wireless access. Last night I went to a fancy restaurant and bar that shows movies (DVDs, it turns out)--and has free wifi. My hotel near LAX doesn't provide free net, but the hotel next door does, and I can pick it up from my room. The conference hotel doesn't have free net, but the shopping complex it's attached to does, plus, today, there's another conference at the hotel, and they've rigged up their own open wireless net.

The conference itself, well, I guess my head's in the wrong place for it. The main topics seem to be:

• how to write a hit song, but the more I learn about hit songs, the less I want to write one
• how to promote yourself as a musician, but, um, I seem to have lost all interest in myself as a musician
• networking, but I'm feeling even more antisocial than usual

These aren't the people I want to talk to.
