(no subject)

Here are some things I encountered on this week's trip to southern California:
  • a vegetarian chili dog in Ventura
  • "You're the Only One" by Maria Mena, many times
(yes, I have a problem with teen pop singers whose initials are MM)
  • family
    family
  • the Killers on SNL
  • the ocean
    San Clemente
  • Taco Mesa
  • In Good Company
  • delightful pop music by Richard Swift at Detroit Bar
  • the Warner Brothers Studio Tour
(the most touristy thing I have ever done in LA, and possibly anywhere)
    WB
    • ER characters' hospital ID badges, including one for "Nella Rasgotra"
(was it a mistake or the simulation of a mistake?)
    • Stars Hollow
    • the Gilmore mansion
    • Luke's boat
    • Sookie
  • The Aviator at the Vista
    Vista Theatre
(if at some point I too become a complete basket case, unable to take care of myself, and need to call a trusted friend to tidy me up enough to go out in public, please, let it be Kate Beckinsale)
  • the Weepies at Room 5
(even more than the great songs and the blend of their voices, it's the way they get a kick out of each other on stage--they're just so cute)
  • no vacancy in Goleta
  • a rest area at 2 AM
  • Buellton at 3
  • grilled biscuits at Margie's Diner

BTW I've been posting more photos to Flickr than I've mentioned or posted here. The ones from this trip are all in a set.

Touristy things are fun. Come back so I have an excuse to do them.

Well, Michael, I would, but don't you work every day, forever? That's going to make it hard to get to Six Flags.

Oh, snap. You're right. That's probably exactly why I've NEVER been before. :(

Kate or Cate?

I agree with your basket case sentiment, but I could handle either of these two from the movie as the trusted friend.

At least three of my favorite movies star Katharine Hepburn, and I've seen them a lot, so Cate Blanchett was, like, impressive, but a little bit skin-crawly for me.

Understandable. I just like her in general, not necessarily as the best imitation of Katharine Hepburn. And of course, Hepburn's another Kate we could add to the list in this fantasy...
