Yes, I'm working hard to divest myself of material possessions, but I just couldn't resist the temptation to pre-order the new Josh Rouse CD from Miles of Music. Autographed! And then once I was on the site I had to spend a few hours crawling through all the recent releases. Really, all of them. In time I trimmed my choices to some maybe-laters and one actual purchase, by Sylvie Lewis, and, it turns out, co-produced by Richard Swift, whom I saw last month in Costa Mesa and now like even more.

I've been meaning to tell you - I am a reformed pack rat, and once I did the Big Purge™ when I moved to CA from NYC it was so freeing and cleansing. It was hard at first, but it really kind of made me see the light and now I'm constantly editing my stuff and have a dapted a policy that helps me a lot. For every new item that comes in (excluding groceries) one has to go out. Buy a new book? Toss that sweater with the elbow hole. New camera lens? Bye bye to the sunglasses I bought for 5 bucks on the strreet that I swore I'd wear but never do. etc. It helps me stave off the demons.

Wow, that sounds smart, and hard. Or maybe not so hard once one gets started.

I'm super excited for the new Josh Rouse. I've heard it's very Fleetwood Mac-esque. In a good way!
