Apr. 6th, 2005 01:11 pmLast night I went to Brain Wash to see three of The Humbugs, a great pop band (they love the Beatles) from Minneapolis. I met Adam in 2003 when I was visiting open mikes in Minnesota on the first big trip; last time I went to Minneapolis, I asked him for some help booking a coffeehouse show, and got it; when his band was coming to San Francisco this month, I returned the favor. So that felt good. Also it was nice to see them in a music-friendly venue. (The only other time I'd seen more than one of them was in a parking lot before a minor league baseball game.) And finally, Brain Wash makes a mean egg sandwich.
I was a little startled to see Joe Letness of The RadioSpares there, since he also lives in the Twin Cities and, unlike The Humbugs, he isn't in The Humbugs. Turns out he and Lisa had been thinking about a vacation, and decided their vacation would be flying out to San Francisco and going to the Brain Wash show. This allowed him, when making an encore request, to yell, "I came three thousand miles for this, you'd better play it!"
Anyway, it was a great break from illness (cough is ongoing), pain (mostly gone), and stress (now I'm talking to the other insurance company).
