dream report

My coworkers and I have fanned out to explore the campus of a small liberal arts college.
(When I'm awake I understand the phrase "MIcrosoft campus", but I guess when I'm asleep, "campus" still means the college where I grew up.)
I, predictably, head to the music building, which has a giant atrium. In the center of the atrium is an elevator, its walls glass and waist-high. I get in and push some button, and only once the elevator starts rising do I realize how tall this atrium is. I'm around the twenty-third floor--except there is no floor, there's just this elevator surrounded by air--before I overcome my height panic enough to press another button, which sends me free-falling down to the ground floor.
Later a coworker and I are in a house (still on campus) when, through plate glass windows that face toward the ocean, we see a blindingly white flash of light. Then another. We know what this is, and we duck and over. Three, four, five, and six. We wait for a while, wondering aloud when it will be safe to open our eyes. I wish I were in my own house, so I could find a radio to turn on without looking.
Eventually we look around and get up off the floor. Fortunately my coworker had the foresight to put some cookies in the oven before all this happened. They are chocolate chip, mmm.
