Tin Cat has two shows this week. Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 (PDT) we're doing a live webcast. We've been working hard with drummer Mike Brilliot, and among other things this will be the full-band debut of "Over Ilsa," a new song I started writing one night at the movies. It may be a while before we get another chance to be heard outside the bay area, so if you'd like to see the webcast, you can tune into the low- or high-bandwidth streams.

Friday from 8 to 10 we're playing a terrestrial show at Barefoot Coffee, with Cameron DePalma opening. Then next Friday, Altamont Pass is there, with Colin Carthen and Philip Rodriguez, who have been performing as a duo, to marvelous effect. I'm really looking forward to hearing a full set from them.

Further off, I've just volunteered to book a weekly acoustic music series for the summer. Weekly! More details on that soon.

I heard on that radio that George W. Bush is the first U.S. president ever to visit Georgia. Is there a joke in there somewhere? Maybe not.

I can think of a few jokes, but no good ones.

Mostly I'm just glad not all our states share the names of other countries or capitals.

There may not be a joke in there, but it's still humorous. Did you see the story on GW driving Putin's car? Dave Barry said it looked like a date :)

oh, I get it

I actually WAS confused, what with Jimmy Carter and all. It wasn't until I read the comments that I understood.

Nice set so far! Could you point me to some place I can buy a CD with some of the songs you guys performed on it?

I wish I could! Tonight's show may actually be the best recording we have yet of Tin Cat as a full band. (We've done some home recording that's better quality, but doesn't have drums.)

"Losing Streak" (the first song we did) is on my solo CD (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ostrom), but it's pretty different there.

There are a couple of bootleggy MP3s on our web site (http://www.tincatland.com/). We'll be putting up some new ones soon, probably from tonight.

I should also have pointed out: Dave's "Diane" and Tom's "She Stole My Bike" are on the web site for the DTs (http://www.dtstunes.com/), their old band; Meredith's "Special" and "Over Again" are on her CD (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/meredith1), with Dave and Tom in the band; and my solo recordings of "Losing Streak" and "I Am Tempted" are both on my web site (http://www.drowning.org/tracks.shtml). But the great Tin Cat CD has yet to be recorded.

the audio was spotty, but "over ilsa" was fantastic. i saw the last 15 minutes of "indiscreet" on amc or bravo or something yesterday.

also, "head over heels" was awesome, and you should totally go into "broken" afterward. i dunno if you've tried it, but i'd like to hear "head over heels" with the men doing octave-below backing vox where there's the falsetto octave-above in the original.

Thanks! I'm unusually happy with "Over Ilsa".

Hm, "Broken". Why do I not listen to this album more?

Not sure what you mean about the falsetto... guess I'll ask you elsewhere.
