We did the first Sunday Chill Session yesterday. I thought it was pretty good. It was so nice to hear Meredith (solo) and Jon and Colin. Need to promote more.

Hey, remember when I was giving away CDs? And remember how I mailed out all of them, except [livejournal.com profile] dougo's and [livejournal.com profile] tombking's because their selections outgrew the mailers I had, and [livejournal.com profile] celie's and some other guy's because shipping to England seemed intimidating, and [livejournal.com profile] perci's John Lee Hooker CD because it just got lost in the shuffle? (Hey, [livejournal.com profile] perci, if you still want that, I need your address. Email me.) Anyway, it's time for phase two.

Tom Varner, Long Night Big Day. French horn jazz. No cover.
Vagabond Lovers, When I Was You. Americana?
Voodoo Dogs (s/t). Jazz by guitarist Bob Ward and organist Larry Goldings.
Jules Verdone, Diary of a Liar. Power pop?
Vicious Vicious, Blood and Clover. Minneapolis four-track pop. Features amusing interpolation of "Dancing Queen".
Noe Venable Trio, Down Easy. Wonderfully weird singer-songwriter, with band, live.
Cassandra Wilson, Traveling Miles. Miles Davis tribute. Includes Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time", which Miles also covered. Two copies available. ([livejournal.com profile] celie, [livejournal.com profile] juliansinger)
The Walkabouts, Setting the Woods on Fire. ([livejournal.com profile] bushmiller)
Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks, Orange Crate Art. It's no Smile, but it's pleasant.
Brian Wilson, Imagination. I kind of like the almost-title track.
Dionne Warwick, Hidden Gems. Not the greatest hits. Includes "Close to You", "The Look of Love", and other songs sung more popularly by others.
Anthony Williams, Spring. Free jazz. With Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Sam Rivers, Gary Peacock.
The Wedding Present, Mini Plus. 9-song expanded version of Mini EP.
Kenny Wheeler, Music for Brass Ensemble and Soloists. Guess.
World Party, Egyptology. Retro pop.
The Who, Who's Next. "Baba O'Riley" et al. ([livejournal.com profile] artname)
The Who, Who's Better, Who's Best. Greatest hits, 1988 version. No "Eminence Front". ([livejournal.com profile] bushmiller)
Kelly Willis, What I Deserve. Country. Mark Spencer and Chuck Prophet on guitars.
The Woodentops, Wooden Foot Cops on the Highway. For a while I was obsessed with finding this CD, for one song I saw on MTV in the late 80s. Don't remember which song it was now. ([livejournal.com profile] ahkond)
Stevie Wonder, Jungle Fever. From the Spike Lee joint.
The Walkmen, Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone. You know, from that car commercial. ([livejournal.com profile] bushmiller)
Lisa Wooster, Second Look. Singer-songwriter. Features bouzouki.
Randy Weston, Earth Birth. The jazz pianist, with Christian McBride, Billy Higgins, and a string orchestra.
Young Dubliners, Red. Irish rock from LA.
John Zorn, Spy vs. Spy. The music of Ornette Coleman. ([livejournal.com profile] bushmiller)

It kind of bugs me that there are no X names on that list. I might throw in Oranges and Lemons.

Anyway, let me know what you want. I'll work on shipping those last few batches from the previous sets.
