It's one of those days when, of 3987 songs on my iPod, I can find almost nothing I want to hear.

I hate that. Another disadvantage I've recently realized is that it's too easy to forget albums that I've purchased recently but haven't listened to a lot.

On days like that, I just start playing Bee THousand because although I might not want to hear it, I never don't want to hear it. Same with Teenage Fanclub, John Doe and the Meat Puppets. Weird, right?

I've had... a number of these days lately, and on most of them I've resorted to my equivalents: Ida, the Blue Nile, some Tim Easton and Gemma Hayes. But I'm getting tired of them, or maybe just tired of myself retreating to them.

Sometimes, listening to nothing is nice.

Maybe you should see if anyone's giving away free CDs on the Internets.

You know what's funny? I have that exact same problem, except with 1400 CDs. So this morning I almost at random pulled Echo & the Bunnymen's What Are You Going To Do With Your Life? off the shelf and listened to it on the way to work. At about song four I realized that this was the perfect musical selection for how I was feeling this morning (nostalgic). I guess my moon's in Venus or something. Eerie.

Lucky bastard.

In college I noticed that, in the steepest of downward spirals, there always seemed to be one song that would somehow pull me out. So each bout with depression turned eventually into a desperate search for the right song. It would've been easier if it were the same song each time.
