Jul. 14th, 2005 01:17 pmNext stuff-decumulation project: Videotapes.
I don't have many--all the commercial ones I already gave away to you guys or to Goodwill. What remains is stuff I made and stuff I taped.
The real target here isn't the dozen T-120s I have left, though. It's the TV.
The plan was always to get rid of it when I move. It's becoming increasingly unclear when that will be, and I'm thinking maybe now's the time to lose the TV anyway.
This is what I'm watching this summer: Stella, out of curiosity; reruns of South Park and The Simpsons, because I haven't gotten around to unprogramming the VCR; whatever's on after The Simpsons, just in case Arrested Development miraculously reappears; and The Daily Show. Of those, the last is the only one I'll miss, and really, I haven't been laughing that much at it lately anyway.
And whatever's on when I feel the need to not think for a while. That presents a deeper problem, but for now I'm not going to confront it.
So I can give those up, but before I eliminate the TV, I need to make sure there's nothing worth keeping on those VHS tapes. Today while I debug JavaScript layout bugs, my background music is a snowy tape from my pre-cable days in Boston of the 1995 Newport Jazz Festival. Some of it's pretty good. I don't need to hang onto it.
