Nobody showed up (well, almost) and the electronics in my electric mandolin suddenly and mysteriously failed.

Awwwwww. What's up with the mandolin? Is it like an electric guitar with pickups and amplifiers?

Yeah, it's basically a 5-string electric guitar. The body's hollow, but not resonant enough that I could mike it as a substitute for the pickup.

And I have another solo show tonight. If I can't get this fixed today, well, it's gonna be a blow to my setlist. (I have two other instruments I can use, and probably enough material to fill out the set, but it'll be weaker stuff.)

Worse things have happened--I mean, no one's planning a saturation bombing of my apartment, I'm not trapped in a raging nightclub inferno--but I'm still pretty down about this.
