it's gooten to the point where i now split all my charitable giving between the portland and nyc girls rock camps. after going to the first one in portland, there's just no way that you can tell me learning to rock isn't the best thing for girls - and if you ask their parents - and i've kept in touch with some - they all say "she completely changed, she has so much value for herself now. she makes time to work on her art even when it means skipping other things that are more socially validating but less fuflfilling" it's breathtaking. makes me cry every time.

That's awesome. Really, anything that leads people to make time for their art is pretty great--it's so hard to sustain creative energy anyway.
