The New York Times is introducing a comics section--sort of. Ten pages in the Sunday magazine. Chris Ware will provide the first installment.

BeliefNet will donate $1000 for every 100 people who donate to Mercy Corps or World Vision, here. (I've seen Mercy Corps recommended by a wide variety of people.)

that's a great pointer. Mercy Corps is great one of the charities with 8% of their monies going to administrative which is really low, so your dollars work harder there than a lot of other organizations. yay!

Mercy Corps may be great, but they were founded and supported by some real bastards. (The JELD-WEN people.) When I tried doing freelance work for them, I couldn't even bring myself to get the work done and collect the money. (Of course, there might have been some other issues there.)

I haven't heard anything bad about Mercy Corps itself, though.
