On the whole, I think we'd have to call the going-away show a success. Almost a dozen of my favorite musicians played, although too briefly. I got to make a lot of noise myself. Even more of my favorite musicians and non-musicians showed up to hang out.

I'm lucky to know these people. I'm lucky to have my friends.

It was very nice when Eric played the love song for Philip and me. But nothing moved me more than Eric playing Carolina--coupled with the notion that HE WILL NOT BE HERE FOR MORE OF THIS. I practically wept right there. I don't know the original version of that song but it can't be as good as Eric's. And if Eric recorded it for us, that would be nice, but it would not be as good as Eric doing it live. Eric, live, solo. So poignant. And now he's leaving.

I would travel many miles to hear Eric play Carolina live.

I had fun though the fact that it was a going away show sort of tinted the whole evening sad.
