we're back
NW part of the tour is over. We've still got one show in LA near the end of the month. I won't be reading the LJ backlog from last week.
Best things about the tour:
Last night we embarked on a two-week vegan experiment (did I mention the vegan pirate restaurant? in Portland?). Actually we'll be "beegans"--we talked it over and we just don't have any compunctions about eating honey. Or bees, I guess, except, gross. Anyway, if anyone has some vegan food tips or recommendations, toss them my way.
Best things about the tour:
- spending time with Kate
- everything about Portland except Voodoo Doughnut
- June Madrona's yurt
- Voodoo Doughnut (in Portland), which deserves its own list item

Cookbooks: We like Vegan with a Vengeance and The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook, either of which I could loan you for a few days if you want to arrange a handoff at Barefoot. W could give you more on the actual making of things like mac n 'cheese' or soy yogurt, but he's off LJ...

If you feel like coming to Barefoot tomorrow night, I think Kate's working then (and I might be there too).

I could probably recommend some cookbooks - would you use them?

Like I say, it's an experiment, and I'm not sure we're ready to invest in cookbooks. But I think Kate's goal is to eat less animal product generally after the experiment is over, so I'd like to hear about them.

I've also heard a lot of recommendations for the Uncheese cookbook, which someone mentioned already, and also How It All Vegan.
