another take on change

Rachel Maddow, quoted by Digby:
Hillary believes the thing that needs to be changed is that Bush needs to be out and the Democrats need to be back in there. Edwards believes the thing that needs to be changed is that the moneyed interests and the lobbyists need to be taken out of the political game. Obama believes that what needs to change is that he needs to be the president because he is a personally unifying character...Democrats are being asked whether they believe in party, in which case they should be for Hillary, if they believe in power they should be for Edwards and if they believe in personality, they should vote for Obama.
Don't know what I think about that.

This is great, and succinctly codifies exactly what's bugged me about all three of them.

Found any candidates you like this time around?

I've always liked Kucinich, but of the candidates who have a chance? Nah. I'll vote any of them in over Romney and Huckabee, however. And would probably still vote Clinton over McCain, but it'd be relatively close.

Speaking of "change", have you read this?

I hadn't read it, although I thought about it while I was writing that last post. Noah's point is fair in general, although I think in this case it's obvious that the Bush presidency has sucked and "change" means "stop doing what he's been doing". And if you listen to the candidates you can figure out what they mean to change specifically.

I liked this summary:

Obama: The system sucks, but I'm so awesome that it'll melt away before me.
Edwards: The system sucks, and we're gonna have to fight like hell to destroy it.
Clinton: The system sucks, and I know how to work within it more than anyone.

Either one, in a nutshell, is why I vastly prefer Edwards. I'm contemplating voting for him in the primary over Kucinich just because I am tired of pissing in the wind.
