James Grimmelmann sure has a lot to say about email and privacy and stuff.

Jessamyn in that article is someone from my school I've been conversing with recently in e-mail. (We'd even worked on the same school newspaper.) I'd even discovered her her site via someone from Waterpoint.

I know James from Microsoft. He interned with our group and then later we hired him full time. He eventually bailed from the company at about the same time I did...

...and yes that was me with the Mountain Dew cans.

Holy cow, he sure does have a lot to say.

It's interesting, though. This sort of thing also applies to, say, MUD logs.

I've been pretty proactively paranoid about the "private" section of my website, with a separate section in my daily log reports for "accesses to watched documents." And when I mention something there I always add "Do NOT give this URL to anyone else." No major leaks so far, but then, I don't go to world economic conferences.
