I don't post a lot about my job here, but I thought I would let you guys know I got an offer from Microsoft. It's a nice offer, but it's not the offer I want. We'll see what happens.

Hey, these days "an offer" is good, and "a nice offer" is even better. Congrats either way. I'll save my "joining the dark side" comments for later if/when you accept.

As I recall, didn't they purchase your previous employer? Is this as a consequence of that, or an independent offer?

They purchased my current employer. They are making many of PlaceWare's employees "offers of continued employment", most conditional on relocation to Seattle. This is one of those.

I enjoyed my time at Microsoft quite a bit, and I learned a hell of a lot about the way that company works. And I made a lot of money for the few months I was there! Free Talking Rain! Lots of it!

Suffice it to say, I'd rather be eaten alive by eels than work there again.

I checked to see if my offer letter included an "eaten alive by eels" clause, but it doesn't seem to.

I, too, got an offer, and I have no idea if there's an offer that would have made me eager to join the 'northward ho!' movement, but this wasn't it. My memory is that it's got the biggest sky I've ever seen and the grass is the greenest green. Unfortunately, I think that's what I get for watching so much TV that I can't untangle my real memories from shows in the '60s.

gahhh!
