I hated Michael Kelly's columns for the Washington Post, and know only what I've read about his work for the Atlantic Monthly and the New Republic. He was one of those people who was not content to argue for an invasion of Iraq, but felt compelled to tar the opposition with every brush available--guilt by association, ad hominem, whatever you've got.

All the same, I find myself saddened, even beyond my usual "it's sad when people die" reaction, by the news of his death in Iraq.

Oh, he died? I wonder why I only got that after a couple of re-readings. De mortuis nil nisi bonum, I guess. I should refrain from making any comment about how he'd still be safely attacking the left if it weren't for the war. I should stop eating junk food, too.
