For background: I've been sick all week. Cold symptoms or maybe an unknown allergy, but whatever, it's been nasty. And my last couple of gigs were already pretty dispiriting, so I was dreading tonight a little bit. Fortunately I was better enough by this morning that I didn't have to call off the show--although I was still a little stuffed up and my voice was in bad shape.

Dave's opening set was really good, but he didn't feel so great about it--he's been working too hard all week, and hadn't had time to prepare. I know just how that feels. It was also really short, and I didn't get a chance to accompany him, which made me sad.

But:: My set went really well! Not the best ever, but the best in a few weeks. I was loose and comfortable, I didn't make any glaring mistakes, and I think my voice sounded okay--a little rougher than usual, but maybe it added "character". Even the weird sprainlike problem I've had with my index finger the last few weeks mysteriously cleared up for the duration.

Crowd response was pretty good--no new names for the mailing list, but I did spot some familiar faces, including one who'd signed up for the mailing list, hadn't received the mailing, and found out about the show anyway. It was cool of her to make the effort.

I've been recording all the recent shows, although most of my sets have been cut short by technical difficulties, by which I mean, me being stupid. I got a full recording of tonight's set. Now I have to start getting them into the computer and finding the good parts.
