Lost in Translation was brilliant. Don't let [livejournal.com profile] artname or [livejournal.com profile] sethm tell you different. Oh, and if you're trying to remember where I've seen Scarlett Johansson before, the answer is, she was Enid's friend Rebecca in Ghost World.

Also, how great is it that Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star is opening on the same day as the new Macaulay Culkin movie?

I thought you might have really liked it.
I am in the adoration category.
I thought it was a brilliant sophomore release by Sofia Coppola, and her growth shows. I am looking forward to more of her work. I liked The Virgin Suicides despite some quirks I was uncomfortable with, but this was smooth as could be I think.

Yeah. As it happens I loved The Virgin Suicides, and I wouldn't say I loved Lost in Translation more. But yeah, I look forward to more from Sofia Coppola.

Apparently she is partner in a business that is doing quite well, so she doesn't really have to make movies--which is good, because it frees her to only make the movies she only really wants to make, but bad, because who knows when the next one will come along?

Indeed... it is good because of the freedom but I would surely like to see more.

I won't say that I liked Lost in Translation better than The Virgin Suicides, because they are very different films, but I just saw her progress as a director in this.
