Compliment of the night: "Have you heard of Death Cab for Cutie?" Apparently "By Your Side" reminded her of them, which I didn't get at first but then later I could see it. It was faster than usual.

It just occurred to me that I was still under the Postal Service's influence when I recorded the synth parts for "By Your Side." Huh.

Anyway, I had a fun night. Meredith Edgar sang a harmony part with me on Patty Griffin's "Blue Sky," with only a little rehearsal, and it sounded great.

I just googled to see if Meredith had a web site, and if she does I didn't find it, but I did learn that she opened-opened-opened for Rilo Kiley in 2002.

And that reminded me to look at the DTs' web site. Dave and I were Meredith's backing band tonight. Also I got to play with Dave and Tom on a half-hour set last week, and really want to do it again.

I ran into [livejournal.com profile] pobig, but he showed up too late to hear any music. Apparently people also come to Red Rock Coffee Company to buy coffee.

Update: Bob Edgar pointed me at Meredith's web site, which is right where I should have looked in the first place.

I'm Ben Gibbard-ed out by your post. (No offense.) But still! That's groovy that you got a Death Cab comparison.

To be honest I was a little name-dropped out myself by the time I finished writing it.

Woo! Does the "thing" involve human sacrifice? Or, wait, I'm thinking of your day job.

i think the "thing" is some recurring i-dont-know-what that's being set up by a local radio station, for reasons that are unknown to me. so it's just about as clear as my day job, but potentially more fun.

the local college station here was playing a song, and I knew I recognized the artist but not the song and I liked it, so I called and it was postal service.

I should maybe buy their album. buying music sucks. :(

I bought their album and was completely obsessed with it for a while. So you should too.

You should get the Postal Service album and anything by Rilo Kiley. The Postal Service was the "it" album of last year. Enjoy.
