Joe Conason, in Salon, thinks the anti-war movement should march on Iraq--well, hold demonstrations at Iraq's embassies to protest its failure to cooperate with the United Nations, and to drive home the point that opposition to a U.S. invasion does not equal support for Saddam Hussein.

I think I agree with him. The problem, as I see it, is that we'll have to come up with a whole new batch of pithy slogans.

Further, I think that a distinction should be made between "Iraqi officials think that the protests support their regime" and "Iraqi officials are SAYING the protests support their regime". Big difference there. And while it's harder to spin protests at the Iraqi embassies, they could just neglect to report anything hard to spin to the Iraqi people. That way they don't have to even pre-empt "Touched by a Houri".

Less talk, more pithy slogans.
